Find your own voice! Great concept - tough to realize. Demonstrating our own writing fosters the writing process. It allows us to view and review our writing visualizing the struggle of thinking, composing, and editing our own writing pieces.
Poetry has been mentioned frequently in the first three chapters. My new goal is to add some daily poetry reading for a few weeks. My hope is to incorporate some poetry writing to share and celebrate with the class. I need to allow an area in my room to display more writing also. I would love to hear some creative suggestions in displaying writing in the classroom:)

A few years ago, my class did snowflake poetry and we hung them around the room. First we cut out snowflakes, then brainstormed words that would describe snowflakes and their descent. After the students wrote their poems, they spiraled them around from the center of the snowflake out. They were great! Another way I have displayed writing, is in the hall under a piece of artwork the students created depicting their story. You could also do a writer of the week. That student posts their writing on a bulletin board all about them.
I like how you started reading poetry to your class for a few weeks and then have them do some writing. I have always been scared of poetry. How did it work for you and your class?
